Renter’s Insurance

All homeowners have insurance, why wouldn’t all renters WANT insurance? Renters may think the homeowner’s insurance policy will cover their belongings, when in fact, it will not. Homeowner’s policies typically cover the structure itself and no personal property. It is your responsibility, as a renter, to insure your own personal property (i.e. jewelry, furniture, electronics, etc.)

WHAT DOES RENTER’S INSURANCE COVER?

Personal Property:

Insurance policy where you will be paid to replace most of your belongings lost in a covered peril. Renter’s insurance covers your personal property, no matter where it is (i.e. Home you’re renting, storage unit, possessions in a car). Protect everything from your personal belongings to your expensive electronics. Don’t forget about your furniture, collections, and jewelry! Ask me how to customize your policy to cover your specific coverage needs.

*There are limits to liability and certain items that may not be covered.

Liability Protection for people on your property:

This protects you, the renter, if any one of your guests is accidentally injured on or around your property. This policy can help you pay for medical expenses such as x-rays, surgical procedures, etc.

Additional Living Expenses:

Also known as loss of use coverage. If you have to relocate due to your rental being damaged and rendered uninhabitable, you may run into some unexpected costs. While your rental unit is being repaired, this policy can help with those living expenses.
